Our Story
July 2020
The idea of a Neurosurgical Student Club was born when two of our members started off to a trip to the Himalayas. The overwhelming force of nature inspired them to reach out to new endeavours - because we climb the highest mountains and aim for the highest with grit, determination and confidence.
Back in Austria, other like-minded students joined them and created the first Neurosurgical Student Club in Austria.
September 2021
After our first year as ANSS, we presented our Student Society at the Conference of the Austrian Society of Neurosurgery (ÖGNC). Subsequent to the appreciating and encouraging responses, we we offered to become officially affiliated with the ÖGNC.
Currently, we have over 1,900 followers from Austria and across the world.

May 2021
We officially registered as an Austrian non-profit organization devoted to education and research.
October 2020
We launched our first lecture series "Let's Talk" featuring internationally renowned experts on cutting-edge topics in neurosurgery. Though initially affiliated with a larger Neurosurgical Society, we sought for independence in order to start off to new endeavours. Therefore, we took the decision to continue our journey as the first totally independent Neurosurgical Student Society in Austria, the ANSS.

Neurosurgery is one of the most exciting and innovative fields in medicine. Our vision is to provide educational, research, mentoring and networking opportunities for medical students with an interest in neurosurgery in order to help them achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.
